You know WVIA for Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow and many other children's programs which have been educating children in northeast Pennsylvania and the Central Susquehanna Valley for over 50 years, but did you know WVIA Public Media is an approved Educational Improvement Organization (listed as Northeast Pennsylvania Educational Television Association-WVIA) under the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)?

What is EITC?

Enacted in 2001, the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) provides a tax credit to businesses that pay Pennsylvania's corporate income tax for contributions to Educational Improvement Organization.

Who can make a gift?

Businesses authorized to do business in Pennsylvania who are subject to one or more of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax; Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax; Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax; Insurance Premiums Tax; Mutual Thrift Institution Tax; or Personal Income Tax of S corporation shareholders or Partnership partners.

How much of my tax liability may I donate to WVIA Public Media (listed as Northeast Pennsylvania Educational Television Association-WVIA) through EITC?

Pennsylvania’s tax credit is for 75% of a corporation’s contribution of up to $300,000 per taxable year, or 90% of its contribution, if it contributes for two consecutive years.
